Ashley Y. Stone
Ashley Y. Stone, M.A., is an Academic Counselor in the African American Academic Network (AAAN) at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). In her role, she advises students in 2 colleges – Liberal Arts and Sciences and Architecture, Design, and the Arts. Aside from her advising responsibilities, Ashley is the coordinator of AAAN’s Woman 2 Woman Initiative, an empowerment group for undergraduate women of African descent.
Ashley received her B.A. in Communication from UIC and her M.A. in Sociology from DePaul University. Her educational background and personal interests led her to study nonviolence education, with a focus on interpersonal and passive violence. She has facilitated nonviolence workshops for educators and youth on Chicago’s south side. Through her nonviolence work, she is committed supporting individuals to acknowledge their highest potential and to recognize that same potential in others.
